I picked it up when it came out. I've noticed the usual popping noises but the frequency of the popping has reduced with latest drivers. No issues with crashing the machine etc.
If you dont' have a warranty, check to make sure all the components are seated around the LCD. If that does not resolve it, I would look at getting a replacement.
