Wow, I appriciate the ultra fast responses!!!! My local battery shop is very expensive and their stock is usually very old as a result. I tried to get a laptop battery from them and it took 2 months and I finally gave up.

This will sound really stupid, but I purchased an extra hard drive caddy for my emachines m6811 back when, and now I have lost the screws. Nobody locally wants to waste the time letting me look.
Anybody have some laying around? ...
Take a look at the bios revision, it is possible they installed a new mainboard. 100% cpu usage indicates a faulty resource. It coulkd be spyware as the 6811 did not come with sp2. Even 5 minutes with sp1 and you could be infected.
