DVD-Rs will play on more dvd players than DVD+Rs.

That's probably normal. I get the same thing running omega drivers on my ati 9000. In my case it's caused when omegadriver's switch to Powerplay mode that downclocks the card to save the battery. I only get that when I sometimes uplug...

^ Yes, it is possible. Make sure you tell them that's what you want. Replacing the lcd is not user servicable so you might have to agree to waive your warranty in case you damage something while doing the replacement.
I think the NICs in dell laptops do the crossing automatically for you if you plug in a straight-through cable and need cross-over functionality. That's been the experience on my 600m.

test it with encryption, etc off. I have the same adapter but only have a 11Mbit network.
If there is an ati card inside, try turning off powerplay.
