Yup... I think if you had the wireless off, screen fully dimmed, etc... it would last 6 - 7 hours... meh dont know...

IIRC, there was one company that reviewed the dv5000 and said the battery lasted 7 hours 7 minutes w/ the 12 Cell...

The other 5.5lb is things like the AC adapter, box, CD's, etc... also may include the battery...

remove the underclock... It wouldnt be the first time I've seen someone underclock the GPU and it have problems overheating... Also try prop'n up the back of it...
