I'm not sure...but I haven't used this laptop for gaming...as yet. But from what I heard...the NVS 110m's are pretty weak for gaming. I'd rather save my money and get the better screen. Albeit if money isn't a problem, you could go for...
533 fsb CPU will work on the 400 fsb motherboard, but it will run at a lower clock and thus a lower speed. I've tested a 2.0 ghz cpu from a 9300 (533 fsb) on a inspiron 8600. It worked, and booted up fine..but it was running at 1.6ghz...

This could be fixed if you clean the part that plugs into the computer. There could be some dust/debris stuck in there thats preventing it from making good contact. If that doesnt work...then I'd guess you're gonna haveta buy a new one
Yes...omega drivers work with the D600 and its Ati radeon 9000. They dont really offer any higher performance...but yes they are compatible.
I doubt the 8600's came with Ati Mobile 9700 GPU's. From what I recall, dell offered the Nvidia 5200 Go and the Ati 9600 pro Turbo.
I remember trying to hook my 6800go powered 9300 to a 30" Apple. And I remember it NOT being able to display at native resolution.
