This problem is fairly well documented on the 5680. Unfortunately, I don't believe anyone's discovered a solution just yet.

Unless the 5690 has a looser hinge, I would expect the same problems to occur in the 5690 (since it is the same case). That model just hasn't been around long enough - it's called "fatigue" for a good reason.
