you need to get the modded inf file from 3dguru or laptopvideotogo. Then replace the one that comes with your new drivers. Rin install and everything should work.
You can disable the card reader from the bios by pression f2 during boot. This will get rid of the drive letters until you enable the card reader again through the bios. I don't think you could 'hide' them any other way.

I'm using 71.20, their kinda old (3 months) but i have had no problems with them. I think i read some place that the 71.84 were good as well. You could also try the 75.XX.

I would think the two hard drives on the 9860 is definitely an advantage. And a 64bit processor with Win64 applications that you use might really increase performance in a year or so.
