I dont see why you couldnt, I have a mixture of usb 1/2 on my lappy. My printer is usb 1 and everything else is usb 2.

yep 60gb by hatachi is the biggest one you'll find avaible now, seagate is coming out with a 100gb 72k soon but I couldnt wait so i got the hatachi one

Targus chillmat and I have the front hanging off more than the back. I find that the fans then are directly under the processor and the hot spot under the notebook. The fan at the back blow out cooler air too in this case.
