The XPS2 has been on the UK site in the special offer section, although it isn't on it now it was replaced by the Inspiron 1200.

From the info we know of Dell's TrueLife screen, it is Glossy

I don't know if it was a mistake or not, I am running VGA not DVI but in an effort to try and help you, I am just suggesting possible solutions I would personally try if I was in your position. Hope you get sorted soon

Is there a button to swap between VGA & DVI on the panel? Also try connecting the DVI when the PC is off then rebooting.
