Always do chipset drivers first. Afterwards I install the notebook system software, video, lan, modem, wifi, sound, TI flash memory/sd reader, then centrino hardware control. I don't install the touchpad drivers or the speedstep fix.

Wow that thing looks really nice. I'm glad that I opted for the combo drive only in my 700m since Dell wanted $99 for the upgrade.
One of the benefits of an on-site warranty is that you can request the Dell tech to mail the part to you so that you can perform the repair yourself.
Ask the computer shop to CLONE the drive and you don't have to worry about reinstalling anything. You won't even need to reactivate the OS. I've cloned dozens of notebook drives using Ghost 2003 and 2.5" to 3.5"...
