just go ahead and reformat, just to make it all clean and nice. Then set up some partitions and plug in the basics like powerdvd, word, record now...Oh and just make sure you get all your drivers downloaded onto a cd.
if you or a friend has a cd burner or something, just download all the *updated* drivers from dell.com and put them on the disk. this way if he reformatts or something, just put it in and install and the latest drivers
