Kingston, Corsair, Mushkin, and OCZ are all good in my book. Other than that I'd really just try to find the best deal on something not totally generic such as PNY or Kingmax etc.
I would consider a cheap black&white laser, while keeping the cheapy for color printing. The laser will definately be nicer for normal documents, and you could upgrade the color printer at a later time to a good photo printer.
