I had the same problem. It is a simple fix. Just download AMD ClockUtility 1.1. Set the minimum multiplier to 11x. Then keep ClockUtility running in your taskbar for as long as you want the full 2.2GHz.
I'm looking for one as well. I hate this huge bulky thing!
