Well, the current BIOS does properly recognize the CPU. The failure is during boot up of the OS... which so far is similar to a failure I experienced immediately after getting my G50Vt.

I don't know why my G50vt-A2 only gets 5.4 in Vista (5.4, 5.9, 5.9, 5.8, 5.9)... and in the CPU!!! I have stock specs. The interesting thing, in Windows 7, the CPU jumps from 5.4 to 6.2 (6.2, 6.2, 5.9, 5.8, 5.9)

MAJOR UPDATE!!!! With a bit of HDD moving, I got the BIOS to re-detect both HDDs at the same time, so I'll have to see from here. As for the BIOS password, I'm wondering if one of my system recovery attempts from the DVD...
