This does the trick for me: Right click on taskbar, propreties Hide inactive icons : Check Customize : change your battery icon to "always hide"

keyboard goes from edge to edge so it's not small at all. The laptop is great, not for gamers though. Light as a feather when there's no cd-rw/dvd drive in it. Worth it for people who carry it all the time IMO with the great build...
