The Hard Drive replacement info is on page 7-4 of the manual. I'm pretty sure you can get the manual from the Sager website if you don't have a paper copy. You might also try rebooting from the Windows XP disk and reinstall.
FWIW I got Vista Ultimate x64 running on my 9890, but it isn't really easy, and several things will not work. You have to bypass Driver Signatures on every boot, Bluetooth doesn't work with my Plantronics headset, which I use for Skype...
