Is it just me or are the links to the pictures broken?
I have a lamp beside my desk that I call "The punch lamp".
It doesn't work and is bent into the shape of a snake, but my computer equipment is all in pristine shape.

You can get a nice little notebook for around $1000, like a Dell(I know I know) 700m.
And then spend Your remaining 2k on a nice desktop and a big CRT monitor.
As far as Desktop's go, If you can an Alienware Aurora 5500 into your budget then you can still be part of the AW family. =-)
Or if money gets tight, just build yourself a beauty desktop. $2000 buys a NICE desktop, if you build it yourself.
PS: Remember to factor in your monitor $200ish.
Go to Start, then click run, then type cmd, hit enter. and do the following
CONVERT C: /fs:ntfs
Where C: is, is the drive you want to convert.
Fat32 is a very unsecure file system in the sense you cannot place individual security permissons.
NTFS also houses the ability to do disk quota's, as well as file compression.
FAT32 is not near as reliable as NTFS, and does not have the ability to recover from errors. Or the ability to use clustering...
