No way. It took 2 RMAs to fix an overheading problem, and now I have a new problem with screen flicker. (my hinge cracked also but was fixed with the first RMA) I love my 6811, but this is too much BS.

you could try installing the original pad driver from your restore disk. It's probably running on a generic winxp driver right now.

I don't know if this will help. More just me complaining/joining the crowd... I had to send my 6811 in twice for an overheading problem. The second time they changed out the "system unit" or some such term. The overheating...

I'm guessing "now that im home" doesn't mean "gradumacated". Good news: The unit probably has low mileage.

Send it, mine had heat issues similar to yours and ended up frying a processor. They changed out my MB and now she runs great.

SECA - don't go through BB. Call emachines. Mine took 4 days out and back.

I have the same one, for the price it's great. True, it is not as wide as my 6811 but it sits on there fine when you line up the feet right.
