from what I've seen in cinebench,a quad is considerably faster rendering,that was comparing an X9100 c2d to a QX9300 in the same notebook,I would imagine the Q9000 would still be well worthwhile when your talking about hour's rendering...

For the software your running,go with the Precision,it will be faster and more stable due to the Quadro.
Dell controlpoint software ,like yoob say's you may have to use it if you like some of the functionality though

Sound's great in just about every respect apart from the 16:9 aspect screen. Presumably you will fill out the last 5 or 6 thing's as you get to use it more ? will be interested to hear about heat with 1 fan and powerful components
Nope....I couldn't find much in the way of review's either,I would tend to avoid anything that there's very little info about,just because of the fact that more popular model's will have a lot of user's and information around the web...
Don't know of any 16.4" model's,but worth considering is the HP ellitebook 8530w as that can have a secondary hard drive in the media bay which can be Raided.also WUXGA 15.4" Think there are also some 15" Asus model's...
