Download CPU-Z and see what it says about your FSB...

Thats not a laptop - its just a semi portable desktop - at that point a SFF PC and nice LCD can't be that much heavier for a lot more power...

Maybe the cpu's throttling down (Pentium M's do this - as for mobile P4's I dunno - my old PIII did it) - try downloading Speedswitch XP and using that...

Are you trying it plugged in - because when its unplugged ATI Powerplay tends to really downclock the GPU and the CPU is also downthrottled. Go - Start/Radlinker/Clockrate - Is it 445 and 263???

I've found a nice targus bag for about $30 (cheap on amazon - not as solid as my old one but still pretty nice). In terms of moving it about its ok - I wouldn't want to be going around with it constantly though - I haven't tried it out...
