I'd avoid Alienware (re:customer service) and if you're looking for a 64 bit notebook, go with the Hypersonic one. You can get a sweet model for around 3K.
I have the ATI 9600 Pro in my Voodoo and it rocks, no stability issues in any games. (Its the 128MB version)

The memory on board with the card will not make nearly as much difference as the architecture of the card. The DX9 compatability, pixel shader, etc. the more intensive features of the card will allow for better gameplay than just 128 MB...
