What Henrik said. Sounds like thermal throttling indeed.
Reading around today, the P4 actually starts this at 67 degrees celcius, not good for our hot lappy's.

It was $700 or so to get a 3.2ghz, matching 800mhz ram and the 9600, new motherboard, cooling and lower case. Not a bad deal really. ...
Soon, soon. I'm on twelve hour shifts five day's a week, so time is short for much of anything these days. This weekend sometime though.
I was testing some more last night, with acpi disabled, I can't induce a shutdown with gameing,...
Oh I agree it may be normal for the KB to reach that temp, but if he say NO difference between a slow-ish Celly and a pretty fast P4, that strikes me as odd. Battery heat, hard drive, who knows.
The statement just sounded odd, that...
If the temp was the same with a 2.4 as with a 1.x Celly, I tend to think it's not the CPU generating the heat makeing your fingers hot, after observing the temp when throttling the 3.06 in mine.
Very strange.
Mildly interisting result here.
So I'm at a terminal temp of 63 at the 75% setting.
Fans are on high already, I'm surfing a bit, it's been at this temp for a good while.
So I bump up to 85% with the fans STILL on, and after a...

Upgraded to the HT bios, running just fine, HT disabled for now.
Anyone remember if you can enable HT/SMP on an existing XP installation? I know you could with NT4.
One thought, you might rewrite the .bat file to not jump right into...
Henrik, here's one for you. You remember my overhat problem?
I removed the stock tin and goo and used just plain heatsink grease as it should be, that might have helped a tiny bit, but as previous experience has shown, not much really....
