If they play games, honestly they shouldn't buy the CL56. Any of the other models listed on this page will be 2X faster in any game they play due to the 6600 or x700.
Yeah, I love my HP, but no way in hell I'd buy the nw8000 instead of an 8104. I mean, it has pretty poor graphics if you go by anything that is slightly new. Built like a tank, though, and if they come out with one with something like...
We're all too picky. lol. If the X50 had an X700 or gf6600, and a DVI port, it'd be on my list.

I think they come in just above her $1500 range if she gets one of their lower-end units, though. But they are both great.

Right now it would be the Acer TravelMate 8104 for me. I have some odd requirements like needing DVI, and while I'd prefer a nvidia card, that one new Asus one was lacking in the DVI part.

The Vaio S-270 that had the 9700 Pro was the best one in that size. Did they discontinue it? It really sucks that Sony went nuts and decided to use the Turbocache 6200 stuff in their new models...
