2 months is a bit excessive, but I could see up to 4 weeks. I am not sure on the exact number of PCs alienware builds each month, but it is probably a big number.

In the box with the battery, power cord, and some cds/drivers, there was this little black thing two holes in it and is sorta heavy for the size. What is it?

I don't think Lithium ions loose their memory like Nickel metal hydride batteries do. I learned a lot about batteries and charging methods of Nickel cadium and Nickel metal hydride from rc cars.

The "best" (most expensive) keyboard/mouse combo woul have to be that logitech that usses bluetooth and has the seperate numpad.
