No you do not need the cable. The XPS Gen2 connector will plug right into the module.
It would be illegal .. But its is possible if you can find a link to it .. If you call Dell they should send you one ..
Windex? I wouldn't use that on my screen. Most types can turn it a yellowish tint color or milky looking.
There are no drivers needed hence the reason its not on the site. What your seeing on the Dell site for the 6500a is a firmware upgrade release and not a driver.
I didn't have to do anything special. I know it stops for a while but it should continue on its own. I don't think I ever had any Widcomm drivers installed on this system so if you had before maybe there is something left over...
I do have the lasted that are on the Dell site (09/27/2005). But everything for me was working even before that release.

I could be wrong but I don't think Dells supports booting from PCMCIA devices in the BIOS. If you can't select it as a boot option from there I don't see how you could boot from it.
