The raid controller on my desktop is hardwired to the motherboard. I'm not going to upgrade until PCI-Express is easily available and SATA-300 is the standard. Should be quite a jump from my Athlon 1800 and GeForce 256, lol!

wow, that is different than my desktop system then. Of course, that uses a HighPoint controller. In my desktop, all RAID functions are set in BIOS (which is where I specified the striping size).
I would think it would have to be a BIOS, not a driver change. I think one of my drives just died on me anyway, so it will be a couple months before I replace both with 7200 RPM models... Good thing I got my data off in time. 70...
