I just compiled a kernel that can be inserted into the Gentoo LiveCD. This might get you up and
running, instead of waiting for the horribly slow torrent.
1. Download your favorite Gentoo LiveCD ISO. The one I'm using in this...
Sorry... I gave mkisofs some limp parameters which truncated the kernel filename...try booting with this:
sager986 initrd=gentoo.igz root=/dev/ram0 ramdisk_size=10240 ramdisk=10240 init=/linuxrc acpi=ht looptype=squashfs...
Sorry about that... I burned the ISO in an old format and it truncated files over 8 characters... email Livecd@oeri.ath.cx if you want a copy of the new ISO

This LiveCD recognizes the Promise FastTrak 378 / SATA150 TX2plus / PDC20378, as well as the Realtek 8169 10/100/1000 NIC for use with the Sager 9860 notebook.
Worked for me, let me have any feedback.
No the PROMISE PDC202{46|62|65|67} / PROMISE PDC202{68|69|70|71|75|76|77} drivers included with the kernel did NOT work. I had to apply the libata patch that I linked to in an earlier post. My LiveCD is completed, if I could just find...
fyi - pata is also supported in my livecd
does anyone have a high-speed server i can upload my livecd iso to? it's only about 50 mb, but my 30 K/s upsteam will buckle after 2 people try to download it
lemme know, thanks
