i successfully created a livecd booting kernel 2.6.10, using the base system from 2004.3
i enabled the following new options in the kernel:

let me know how it goes with making the gentoo livecd .... also there seems to be some patch for PATA at http://lwn.net/Articles/118218/ , people have reported success on 2.6.10 kernels, but i can't try it because i can't boot to my hard...
suse 9.1 installed without issue, however updating the kernel with yast apparently did not copy the ft3xx module to the new kernel
also, i have had no luck in compiling the ft3xx driver in 2.6, only in 2.4....is there a port available?
