Thats easy to fix just call Dell and have them ship you the cd . Just tell them you have formated the drive and accidently erased the hidden restore partition.

I bought the cd burner ,Instead of the dvd burner and would like to change it out. I did not find it listed in the parts section at Dell. Any one know the number and the price of this unit? Its for the XPS gen 1.

Dell replaced the mobo on my XPS Gen 1 and they did not put the service tag back in mine either . will this work on the XPS?

I wondered that my self when they give the instructions on how to do it the factory manual . So how could they deny it later.

The loss is with the prescott. The northwood always out performs the Prescott clock for clock in real world apps and games. The prescott has to scale a lot higher to compete with the Northwood.
