Dells are custom assembled, so they must be easy to mantain. Other brands are much more difficult to dissasemble / assemble.

Just be careful to clean the heatsink time to time. My M70 just died because there was no cooling due to excess of moisture.
Both passwords are stored in EPROM (Flash). The one in the motherboard can be bypassed sometimes, but the one inside the hard drive is almost imposible to. It's secure enough to stop next door's Joe.
T60 on 14". The best in town hands down. Or you might like to wait and see what they release as T61. Probably a 14" widescreen, which will be absolutely awesome.
