I am not sure where you heard or read that but both my my MacBook Airs are top notch quality. They are built like tanks for there size and weight. I nothing but good things to say about them.
I just put some gskill cas4 ram in my 2.6 pyrene (or whatever the hell it is) 17" high def MBP and it works great, even is seen at cas4 timing.
