try using centrino hardware control, it does a better job and has many more features then power4gear. I have to literally put my ear up to the notebook to actually hear the fan in a quiet room.

What kind of temps are you running. On idle i get only around 50C and full load 65-70C even up past 60C the fan is very quiet or you can't even hear it at all.

Well i have had mine since friday and i hardly hear the fan at all even in a dead silent room. Only when it is first turned on for about 2 secs do i eha the fan and then it goes away. It is most likely your particular unit.

The ones from the cd work fine but when it comes to ati drivers the newsest ones usually fix many things and improve performance.

I have encountered the same problem and have yet to find a fix. It will install the driver that it came with but nothing else works.
