With your ram you should be able to run pretty much anything you want in the background, although the game will run a tad bit smoother if you disable the junk. How I run: 1680x1050 all options on highest except 4x AF, no AA

search the forums for i8kfangui and i9kfangui and you should find what we're using. That only works on certain dell models though.
