MobMeter is a good utility to monitor temps. On my 7620 it reports CPU temp, and the temp on both HDD's. A quick search on your favorite search engine will provide a link to a download. The fn+F10 is built into the BIOS on the 7620....
Heat doesn't appear to be an issue. Before swapping the PSU. The CPU temp was peaking at around 37C. After swapping it I ran 3DMark2k1 for over 24 hours. The CPU temp peaked at just over 41C.
Finally tracked it down. It was a bad power supply. It was giving enough juice at idle but anything more it couldn't handle. Swapped it out with a different one and no more troubles. Now I just have to deal with the RMA process

The 4790 appears to be to the 8790/9860 what the 4380 is to the 5690. Similar features, just not as high end.
