could be a driver issue - have you tried other drivers ?

been using wireless for years - totally stable and never noticed any difference between wired and wireless tbh I am on a 2 meg line at home and I usually get an excellent signal strength of around 54 meg ... (802.11.g)

Obvious you would have thought but when using the lapcool make sure you flip the feet at the bottom located on the underside up. This will allow the lapcool to draw air from below. If you don't do this the fans are pretty much not doing...
