You can get the MSI Megabook S250 for about the $1000 mark. Weighs just under 4 lbs and has a 12.1" WXGA screen.

$1400 shipped from mwave.com...you only get the DVD-ROM/CDR drive though...not a problem for me, I'll just go get a laptop DVD burner from another vendor and swap out the drive.

Don't let the lack of a DVD burner stop you from making the purchase at Mwave.com. (They'll build your system though rather than ship it as parts) With the savings in cost you can just buy a slim-line DVDR and put it in the modular bay....

Don't forget about $300-$400 from the price tag depending on who you go to to get your Compal CL-56 or Asus M6BNe from...to tell you the truth, if the price was about $100-$200 difference, I would definitely have gotten the Asus.

Well, the only cheaper lappys I know of are those Walmart specials...but most of them are crap. They also have the 12.1" Averatecs starting at about $800.
