if by beating them hands down you mean has a very questionable relationship with many manufactures, has better marketing, and its own 'chipset package' (centrino), then maybe they are slightly ahead.... but AMD is not far behind...... if...

unless you plan on running Windows X64 and have some dire reason that you need 64bit right now, go with the travelmate 8204... it has a faster and a larger hard drive (sata vs ide) a better video card (x1600 vs x700) probably a faster...
