I have a mini atx tower with a Asus 8ne FM pci-e motherboard ( 939 ) with only 512mb of 400mhz Hyundai Ram and a Ati X700pci graphics, I fancy moving to the lovely 7800gtx or the 6800ultra ddr3. Could my pc handle this?

Do you have a mains lead which runs into the laptop and then to the mains as thats likely to be the charger aswell

Depends on how many updates you ignored in the past, it may have updated alot of your OS if you ignored updates.
