The problem was caused by Norton....when I pressed shut down or restart the first thing Norton did was to scan the floppy drive....but if it isn't there it goes back to the desktop...as soon as disabled Norton everything is fine...

I should also said that if I press the power button it will turn off but not when I select shut down and restart from task manager.....

When I click on start and then turn off and then click either restart or shut down ntohing happens.....the pc goes back to the desktop. Please help!!

I've got it on a media centre home pc....it's great! I use it in my lounge room as my dvd player, tv show recorder/ music player etc....and it's great to play games on the big screen!
