You're comparing apples to oranges.

I've experienced the same issues when I tried skype with my brother, either the internal mic, or headset and mic both drop inputs very often.
No idea why, had to switch to useing another machine for skype.
If he's talking about the front Media lights, then the correct answer to turn them off is in the Bios.
I have done this personally, and have no idea about the other part (making the lights flash, ro what thesoftware does)..
I'm pretty sure that standard television gives us 25 fps, so anything above that all looks the same. (dnt quote me on that tho)

You have to go into the Bios, there's an option to turn those LED's off.
