I have an ACER and it seems quite good so far. I'd go the ACER also. i got mie @ BB, my 7422GX took a dump so geek squad gave me the ACER for the 7422GX. Centrino Duo1.86CoreDuo, 2gbm 160gb 5400 webcam 15.4

My 7422 ran cooler when it was on AC, fans always running. It seems hotter after I ran RMClock but battery lasts a bit longer when it was new but now mybattery is worn 25%. FID Min. 4.0X @ .850v(.950v), Max. 11.0X @ 1.300v(1.400v).

I would have to say Dell due to the 7900GTX in the XPS 1710.
