Maybe it's the intel wireless card thats malfunctioning? How old is your laptop? try calling Dell and troubleshooting it with them? maybe change over to the dell generic cards? Also, try redoing the whole connection from the router...

You should be fine as the router usually uses 2.4 GHz range..... I just set my linksys wireless router WRT54G yesterday and believe me, if I can do it, you will be just fine!!! Just follow the installation wizard and it will walk...
I have the TMobile hotspot and its awesome....works great and at most places......I usually stop off at kinkos and starbucks and it works flawlessly. Never used it at an airport yet, but dont see why it wont be good there too?
How do you "switch" to the Intel software? I do that but when the Intel one finds a network, the damn windows one starts looking for one too and I get a " Limited internet connectivity" Icon with an exclamation mark...
right click on the prowireless icon on system tray and choose disable radio.... if you want to do it the other way, go to Network Connections and right click on wireless and choose disable.
