i forgot to add that the new alienware would also feature the new santa rosa platform and support the xtreme cpu (x7900 or whatever it is). it would also finally allow us to use more than 4 gigs of ram with vista 64 bit.

i think the only way that alienware can still offer the light 17" laptop is if nvidia offers the sli 8800m on one card like the 8700 is for dell. that way alienware can use the other free gpu slot to stuff the physics card in there.
the product would compete with the dell m1730. it would have all the current features of the m9750 and sport alot of the same ones found on the dell like; dual link dvi, physics card, wireless finder, backlit keyboard, gaming lcd...
when you run your m7700 on battery it will actually disable hyperthreading on the fly to preserve power. you can even disable it in the bios as well and then task manager will report as seeing only one cpu.
yes but he does not have a pentium D in his m7700 as the motherboard simply does not support that pentium chip. it only supports the single core P4's with hyperthreading.
