Locally the "cheap" one is the i3 that after some lookup is very very weak compared other other i-series due to lack of throttlestop tweakability.

The internets are all ablaze (if you follow M11x topics) about it so good to see they are doing something. Sometimes bad press is, well, bad press. Outside of the hinge design/placement this is a great little system.

For install I have an external CD drive... none of my games were purchased online. If you have good luck with steam or other online sources then that will work and you can skip the ext CD setup. I say get one anyway though.

My gut says on paper you have "enough" to be current "enough". The problem is it is still an old computer and you are comparing to new stuff. I say if money is the same then enjoy it and get the most value out of it...
