Another thing you might want to try is removing one of the RAM chips and test the computer with just stick of RAM. Try it both ways to see if the problem keeps happpening. I am assuming that you have a 512MB stick and a 256MB stick.

At the current prices for the 1GB sticks, just might as well just max it out and not worry about it. It will cost you $240-250 for the 2GB currently and you would probably get $30-40 in ebay for your 256MB chip. You would be paying this...
