Great to hear--hopefully we caught it before any long-term damage--heat kills electrical components.
If you do remove the heatsink, don't even think about starting the laptop up until after you have cleaned and reapplied new heat compound. It literally takes less than 2 seconds for a CPU to pop without a heatsink.
Ahh, you didn't say that at first. First thing you should do is open that puppy up and blow the dust from the heatsink with compressed air...while doing this, though, use a pin to hold the fan blades in place--a cab of compressed air...
