In my limited experience, you either get the cheapest computer available that will do what you need at the time, or you get the best computer that you can afford and make it last as long as possible. Buying midrange stuff is overkill...
Does anyone make these any more? Toshiba used to but I haven't seen any in a long time.

Disappointing that they couldn't make a 4-spindle laptop. Having to chose between an optical drive or a second hard drive or battery is weak. You should be able to have the main battery, internal hard drive and optical drive always...
