I dont think much thought was put in the M1730 power interface. As MrKook said, the 1705 interface is much superior. I predict a design change here.

Seems like what what we all have in common is the NVidia 7XXX series video card. My problem only showed up after I replaced the ATI card with the NVidia card. I suspect a video card bios upgrade is in order. Dell should be notified.
