I have the Intel 2200 and I'm very happy with it. The connection is reliable and works everywhere in the house, including the basement. And it picks up a signal from 3 other neighbors.
ghostdunk, I ran the Dell diagnostics and the HD passed all tests. So Scan Disk and Dell diag. say it's good. Hitachi Fitness Test says there are problems and System Mechanic defrag function says there MIGHT be physical problems...
Well, it seems the corrupted sectors warning from the Hitachi diagnostics is correct. I was running System Mechanic's defrag utility and the operation was cancelled due to corrupted sectors in the drive. Anybody else is having this...
I don't know if it's the same noise you describe, but I get more of a whine than a hum. The thing is that I hear it when the display changes. i.e. when the contents of a window changes or when a new window opens.
On mine, the front ones don't make contact. Almost, but not quite. I also think that the latch itself is made of extremely light (cheap) plastic. I don't like the feel of it at all. It does work well, though.
