definitely get the Geforce 6800. Their will be a huge difference between that one and the 128mb radeon for gaming compared to the upgrade in ram. Also their are places on the internet where you can get ram for a lot cheaper than dells...
i usually just go standby with mine. Theirs not really anything that should go wrong from running it all the time. I usually just restart mine like once a week, though, just to clear the leftover gunk on the memory and whatnot.

edit: Decided to add something worthwhile. The Fastest notebook graphics card out at the moment is the 6800 ultra available in the Dell XPS Gen 2 and the Sager 9880
for me 1.7 didnt need a voltmod. I can even undervolt it (using rmclock). Its set at 1.308 volts @ full performance when by default its 1.340 volts. I havent tried going lower only because i only installed the processor a couple days ago...
